{maternity} The Anguses + 1

Sorry for the lag in posts, been crazy busy lately shooting a LOT of baby bumps and a kids fashion gig down at Pike Place. But first, some news! My Facebook Page hit 1,000 fans a few days ago and I’m excited to finally get my Page Username when June 28th comes around.

So on with the baby bumps! My first maternity shoot last week was with Sara and Chris, and their baby bump, a girl who will be coming in about ten weeks.

I am trying out some new backdrops I made from fabric purchased from JoAnn who was having a 50% off sale. This is a Waverly print that I’d initially bought to make upholstery for my dinner table chairs but could not resist hanging up for a shoot. Turned out pretty well, don’t you think?

I also purchased a knit to wrap around my subject and safety pins to make sure the material clung nicely to her beautiful curves.

Didn’t know Sara had a pretty little butterfly tattoo on her belly. This bottom-up shot was an irresistible one.

This is a field near my house that just filled up with wild flowers thanks to the beautiful weather we’d had about a week and a half ago. It was perfect for some outdoor couple shots.

My signature Chinese umbrella was the perfect prop and shade to diffuse some of that light around their faces.

Watch out for baby girl Angus’ arrival in about two months!

{Families} The Nelsons

I met Natalee through Mothers of Duvall, a local moms community where I live, and she has been such a positive supporter of mine. She runs a business herself and we’ve collaborated a few times. Her family, husband John and her son Kolbs and daughter Katie make beautiful models. Here’s the evidence!

{family] The Bomsteads

wmIMG_1533

Kajsa and her girls were one of the first families I photographed when I got into this business. Last weekend, she finally convinced her husband Brad to join them for a complete family session. We picked Borlin Park, this sweet little spot by the Monroe riverside.

{family} The Longs Redux (new, with Dad!)

The Longs returned to my home studio for another session because dad Chad was missing when we went to Skagit for the tulips. Not too bad, even though studio sessions are not my favorite for kids. They need the great outdoors to be their most expressive. Still, M and L were pretty happy to smile and kid around with me. Always awesome :)

{Newborn} Baby B

I took maternity pictures of the lovely pregnant Holly a couple of months ago. On April 17, after an amazing home birth assisted by my doula friend Alyssa Morgan (who was the one who hooked me up with the Pattersons!), Baby B was born at 7lbs 2oz. We scheduled her newborn pics at ten days.

{Family} The Bellamares

The Bellamares

Fourth shoot of the week – and one more to go!

I met Mireille and her beautiful boys through a local moms group. She and her husband Mario moved to our little suburb last year from Quebec, Canada.

The Bellamares

D and S were so smiley throughout the shoot, they were just a joy to photograph. We walked through the beautiful gardens of Marymoor Park near Clise Mansion, visited the windmill and basically just enjoyed a peaceful afternoon in the beautiful, sunny weather.

The Bellamares

Little S just lights up when I point the camera at him. Now that’s a photographer’s dream! I swear, one plus is a great age for pictures.

Big bro D was no slouch either, giggling and asking to look at my work from time to time. Someone’s gotta keep me honest!

Thanks Mireille and Mario, it was fun!

{Family} Tulips in Skagit!

My second of the five shoots was in Skagit County’s yearly insanely popular Tulips Fest, with my friend Meriaten and her kids M and L. The weather was iffy but that did not deter the throngs and throngs of cars and crowds in Tulip Town. Note to self: Next year, go on a weekday!

Family: The Andersons

Jennifer and Joe have been my clients since I started this business ten months ago, and I’ve done THREE shoots for them already (thanks guys!).

When we first started out, Jenn warned me that her older girl L was not the picture-taking type, and would only suck her thumb and twirl her hair. Today, L hams up in front of “Daisy 2.0″ aka my camera (Daisy 1.0 is still around, somewhere…) and is sooo much at ease. Her baby sister K is not as happy about being photographed and takes some time to warm up (she was totally the opposite when we started a year ago!) but in the end, you just can’t take a bad photograph with these two.

L turns three this month. Happy Birthday, baby girl!

Here are some of my faves.
